What is NDAEB CPE?
The NDAEB developed a Clinical Practice Evaluation (CPE) for use by Canadian Dental Assisting Regulatory Authorities (CDARA) in the licensing/registration of dental assistants. For more information, see the CPE Candidate Handbook.
How many Practical exams are scheduled in a year?
The practical exams are conducted 4 times a year about 2 months after each written exam. You must have passed the written exam in order to be eligible to book your slots for the NDAEB CPE exam.

- February / March

How to book for the NDAEB Practical Exam?
Once you have passed the written exam, you can select the next available dates for the clinical practical exam (CPE). You are advised to book the slot as early as possible as the slots are filled on a first come first serve basis itself.
How to Prepare for the NDAEB Practical exams?
The Practical Exam consists of the evaluation of 9 skills which include:
- Expose Xrays
- Alginate Impressions
- Rubber Dam
- Coronal Polishing
- Cavity Liner
- Matrix Band & Wedge
- Fluoride Gel
- Pit & Fissure Sealant
- Topical Anesthesia

Results of the NDAEB Practical Exam
About one month after the exam, you will receive an email mentioning the results PDF being available in your Candidate Portal. Your results will show the remarks on each skill conducted. NDAEB is strict about the practical exam and one must have adequate practice before attempting the CPE.
